The Aerospace Quality Inspection Engineer will travel to various supplier facilities to perform first article inspections on manufactured parts, assemblies, and / or sub-assemblies. Parts will be inspected to engineering drawings, customer purchase orders, industry standards, and specifications. The quality control inspector will have strong background in performing first article inspections.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review and interpret design drawings and CAD models 
  • Provide detailed receiving, in-process and final inspections on aerospace components using industry best practices to verify specification conformance 
  • Effectively communicate with and coordinate engineering and production groups 
  • Inspect, verify, and proactively support structures development and acceptance testing; assuring adherence to design, specification, and testing requirements 
  • Document production and test anomalies in accordance with prescribed procedures and process as required 
  • Assist with the specification, purchase, and maintenance of calibrated measuring and test equipment 
  • Help establish AS-9120 quality certification
  • Document production non-conformance issues in accordance with prescribed procedures and processes as required 
  • Support Quality Management System policies and procedure documentation, assess compliance to company and industry standards, initiate and lead continual improvement

 

QUALIFICATIONS/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree required. Engineering degree highly preferred
  • Ideally 10 years of practical experience in the aerospace industry
  • Minimum 5 years of knowledge and experience with AS9100, ISO9001, auditing, supplier quality, corrective actions and production support
  • Candidate must have practical experience performing in-process and final inspections on machined parts, assemblies, and / or sub-assemblies as well as electronic components.
    • Ability to read/interpret engineering drawings and Purchase Orders (POs).
    • Experience in FAIs
    • Ability to use magnifying instruments and all types of inspection tooling and standards   
    • Ability to write reports
    • Experience with reading and understand electrical drawings including ability to witness test and understand electrical test data a plus
  • Experience with counterfeit product detection.
  • Ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years' experience performing inspections in aerospace or military / defense manufacturing with proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must have ability to work in a fast-paced /cross-functional environment
