The Vendor Manager is an exciting new position, focused on serving a unique value proposition within ADS. The candidate will be responsible to the vertical manager for the sustainable margin growth of all categories within the FMS & International sales channels.

An effective Vendor Manager understands and can articulate the International team's position in the customer landscape and value proposition to key vendors in support of FMS Programs and convert that understanding into support through to increased margins over protracted timelines.



Primarily responsible for Vendor Management & Margin Growth

    • Negotiate terms with existing suppliers to maximize overall margin
    • Secure DOR's on all ongoing FMS cases.
    • Report and track case lifecycle to maintain vendor support / engagement.
    • Must be extremely well-versed and able to articulate the ADS International Value Proposition
    • Identify new vendors and assess viability for partnerships
      • Travel to new vendor facilities to assess capability and products and to best understand where ADS can add value
    • Maintain deep relationships with vendor community - continually reinforce ADS International value proposition
    • Maintain presence within key technical community of importance to FMS cases
    • Provide analysis on vendor performance
  • Successful outcome measured by ability to increase average margin by 1% over 12 months.



Secondarily responsible for supporting Business Development

  • I new targeted vendors to relevant BD manager.
  • Find and capitalize on competitive advantage offered to vendors in FMS/International business
  • Provide leads to sales team and support those leads during initial phases of business development
  • Fully understand existing contracts available to vertical & advise on how they affect margin.
  • Support capture efforts for new contracts and expand contract use by BD managers.
  • Research user requirements to focus on solutions that will yield maximum results
  • Work with Training to educate vertical sales team.






  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • 5 years' experience with US Government contracting and acquisition
  • 2 years' successful experience in business development and/or program management
  • 3+ years' experience in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word must be highly proficient
  • Must demonstrate DRIVE and ability to solve problems independently, without prompting
  • Must be HUNGRY to create opportunities and find new business
  • Must possess strong and fearless negotiations skills while still managing relationships with finesse


ADS experience may be substituted for any of the above at the manager's discretion.


All employees accepting a position as International & FMS Vendor Manager will be expected to make an 18-month commitment and may not transfer to another role without approval from the EVP of Sales.
